voter requirements in TEXAS: 

  • Be a United States citizen 

  • Be a resident of the county where you submit your application 

  • Be at least 17 years and 10 months old, and be 18 years of age on Election day 

  • Not have been convicted of a felony (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole) 

  • Not have been declared by a court as totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapcitated without the right to vote 

HOW TO REGISTER TO VOTE IN TEXAS: 

  • Texas does NOT offer online voter registration. You must physically fill out and send in a form. Here are the different ways to do so:

BY MAIL!

PRINT OUT AN ONLINE APPLICATION

  • Fill out THIS voter registration online, print it, sign it, and MAIL it to the voter registrar in your county of residence. 

  • Remember, you are not registered until you have physically mailed it to your voter registrar and they have received your form, find your county’s Voter Registrar’s Office is by clicking THIS link. Your County’s Voter Registrar will process your application, and your registration becomes effective 30 days after it is submitted and accepted.

REQUEST A POSTAGE-PAID APPLICATION

  • You may request a postage-paid application from your voter registrar, by filling out THIS form so that a voter registration application can be mailed to you.

  • Again, you must mail the voter registration application to the voter registrar in your county of residence, find your county’s Voter Registrar’s Office is by clicking THIS link.

 

PICK UP AN APPLICATION

  • Voter registration applications are also available at many post offices, libraries, Texas Department of Public Safety offices, and Texas Health and Human Services Commission offices throughout the state. Make sure to call and find out if that location has voter applications before heading out!
